Dan Wheldon killed in 15-car IndyCar crash at Las Vegas 300; Racers call it worst crash they’ve seen  (NYDailyNews) Dan Wheldon, the winner of this year’s Indy 500 and one of the world’s most popular drivers, was killed in a fiery 15-car crash at Sunday’s Las Vegas Indy 300 after his car flew over another on lap 13 and smashed into the wall outside turn 2. The race was cancelled after Wheldon was airlilfted from the track to University Medical Center.
