While promoting Men in Black 3 in Moscow, a Ukrainian reporter asked Smith for a hug, he obliged only to find that same reporter trying to give him an open mouth kiss. Smith lightly smacked the man and later said he was “lucky I didn’t sucker punch him.” The Christian Post reports.

Will Smith smacked a reporter who kissed him one too many times on the red carpet of the “Men in Black 3″ premiere in Germany Thursday. The actor didn’t take the move lightly, saying that he nearly “sucker punched” the man.

Will Smith and the reporter kissed several times on the cheek on the red carpet as the actor made his rounds. However, the prankster, an unnamed Ukrainian reporter– usually tries to sneak in a kiss on the lips from various celebrities. The man tried to hold Smith in the hug for a bit too long, and the 43-year-old wasn’t having it.

“What the hell is your problem buddy?” Smith says angrily, shoving the white-clad man backwards. The reporter, surprised, stared at Smith as he walked away.

Social network’s stock is set to begin trading on the Nasdaq on Friday

(NYDN) NEW YORK — Facebook is about to find out just how much status updates, puppy photos and billions of “likes” are worth on Wall Street.

Facebook’s stock is set to begin trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market on Friday, the day after the world’s definitive online social network raised $16 billion in an initial public offering that valued the company at $104 billion. That’s more than Amazon.com and other well-known companies such as Kraft, Walt Disney and McDonald’s.

It’s a big windfall for a company that began eight years ago with no way to make money.

Facebook priced its IPO at $38 per share on Thursday, at the top of expectations. Now, regular investors will have a chance to buy stock in Facebook for the first time. The stock will trade under ticker symbol will be FB.

Facebook’s offering is the culmination of a year’s worth of Internet IPOs that began last May with LinkedIn Corp. Since then, a steady stream of startups focused on the social side of the Web has gone public, with varying degrees of success. It all led up to Facebook, the company that’s come to define social networking by getting 900 million people around the world to share everything from photos of their pets to their deepest thoughts.

It has done so while managing to become one of the few profitable Internet companies to go public recently. It had net income of $205 million in the first three months of 2012, on revenue of $1.06 billion. In all of 2011, it earned $1 billion, up from $606 million a year earlier. That’s a far cry from 2007, when it posted a net loss of $138 million and revenue of $153 million.

“They could have gone public in 2009 at a much lower price,” said Nick Einhorn, research analyst at IPO investment advisory firm Renaissance Capital. “They waited as long as they could to go public, so it makes sense that it’s a very large offering.”

Facebook Inc.’s valuation is the third-highest in an IPO, according to Dealogic, a provider of financial data. Only two Chinese banks, Agricultural Bank of China in 2010 and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China in 2006, have been worth more. They were worth $133 billion and $132 billion, respectively. By another measure —the amount raised— Facebook ranks third among U.S. IPOs. The largest was Visa, which raised $17.9 billion in 2008. No. 2 was Enel, a power company, and No. 4 was General Motors, according to Renaissance Capital.

Donna Summer, Queen of Disco famed for hits ‘Last Dance’ and ‘Hot Stuff,’ dies

(NYDN) The Queen of Disco is dead.

Donna Summer died Thursday morning after succumbing to a long battle with cancer, TMZ.com reported. She was 63.

Born in Boston on New Year’s Eve 1948, Summers came to define the sound of late ’70s and early ’80s radio with hits including “Last Dance”, “Bad Girls” and “She Works Hard for The Money”.

The five-time Grammy winner leaves behind a husband, songwriter Bruce Charles Sudano, and three daughers, Mimi, Brooklyn and Amanda Grace.

Sources told TMZ that the singer was trying to complete an album at the time of her death.

Gospel singer, pastor Marvin Winans assaulted, carjacked in Detroit

DETROIT (AP) – Popular Detroit pastor and gospel singer Marvin Winans was assaulted and carjacked Wednesday afternoon at a gas station on the city’s west side.

The attack happened about 3:20 p.m., and the suspects fled with an unknown amount of cash and Winans’ SUV, police said.

Winans, 54, told WXYZ-TV that four or five young men followed him from inside the gas station and attacked him while he gassed up his vehicle.

Winans said he didn’t believe he was seriously hurt, but planned to seek medical attention.

He said his attackers appeared to be among 10 young men he passed by inside the station, and he warily watched them as he pumped gas.

“I’m just saddened that it has come to this,” Winans said. “This kind of nonsense just has to stop. It’s just the savageness of what’s happening in the street.”

He also believes his attackers didn’t recognize him. Winans is pastor of the 4,500-member Perfecting Church on Detroit’s east side. In February, he gave singer Whitney Houston’s eulogy.

“And if they did, it didn’t make much difference,” said Winans, who has been active in civic issues, including taking a stand against the proliferation of strip clubs in Detroit’s neighborhoods.

(FOX SPORTS) OKLAHOMA CITY — Thunder forward Kevin Durant had been over-passing all night, frustratingly so, giving up the ball on much easier shots than this obstacle course that lay ahead of him now.

So pass seemed like a good guess.

Instead, KD drove. He drove without fear of what if, without doubt of himself, without the burden of previous failures that do exist. It ended with him floating in a seven-footer over Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol with 18.6 seconds remaining.

This was the moment in Oklahoma City’s 77-75 victory over L.A. in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals Wednesday, and KD had owned it.

“As a kid, you always counted down in your backyard. You want to make that last shot, or you want to take it,” Durant said. “And if I miss, I am going to walk off the court like nothing happened and wait for that next opportunity. There are going to be times when I miss those shots. But I know if it comes around again I am going to have the confidence to take it.”

And at that moment, all I thought about was LeBron James.

What a dichotomy. Only 24 hours before in another Game 2, on another home court, with another upset bid and Miami had sent Mario Chalmers to take on the moment.

Why not LeBron? Who knows, or maybe we do.

Maybe, it is that same fear of failure that paralyzed him a year ago in the NBA Finals against Dallas.

The Thunder are fearless while the Heat and LeBron so obviously feel that pressure, and sometimes wilt underneath.

This is why, after watching this Thunder team through a series against the Mavs and some of another against the Lakers, I am more convinced the Dream Team is in OKC, not Miami.

They are young, unafraid, unburdened.

No one is really to blame for this, other than maybe my media friends. The Heat threw a hypothetical pep rally down in Miami two summers ago, and we bought into the idea that a championship already had been won, ignoring Dwyane Wade’s age and LeBron’s issues in winning time.

This has been dismissed as narrative.

Until proven otherwise, I tend to think LeBron has a winning problem.

As I listened to Lakers coach Mike Brown talk Wednesday about Durant, I wondered if he would have been able to say this about LeBron, if Erik Spoelstra could now.

“That is what great players are supposed to do, take on the challenge at the end of the game,” Brown said of Durant. “He basically won the game for them.”

Yes, Kobe Bryant failed at this Wednesday. His was a failure of opportunity.

With the Lakers down one in the final seconds, Brown said, the inbounds play was for Kobe. He said Kobe was open. Kobe said the play was for Kobe. Kobe kind of said Kobe was open.

“I don’t know what Metta saw,” he said, being very politically savvy. “But once I turned around, I saw the ball in the air and I was trying to get in position to get a rebound.”

Translation: Yo, World Peace. Throw the ball to me next time.

Many will be selling Lakers choke and, maybe, they are right. The Lakers were up seven with 2:08 remaining with the best closer in the world on their team. The Lakers, in general, and Kobe, in particular, made some uncharacteristic miscues. There were two turnovers. There were layups by OKC.

This is the second time, though, the Thunder have done this in these playoffs. The Mavericks led by almost that same amount in Game 1 of the first round, and Oklahoma City found a way back in for a W.

Is there luck involved with this? Absolutely.

Does this eventually catch up with a team? Probably.

Also it speaks to a team that is not afraid of failure. They were playing awful — 12 points in the third quarter awful — and found a way to win anyway. They found a way to win despite having KD and James Harden being held down, despite playing at a tempo beneficial to L.A., despite trailing by seven late.

They won by 29 when on top of their game in Game 1. They won by two when off.

It is hard to imagine an older team like the Lakers winning two games in two nights like this crazy L.A. arena schedule dictates, though I am not ready to totally dismiss them. Underestimating Kobe makes me nervous. If OKC wins, this would set up NBA Commissioner David Stern’s second-worst nightmare — the first having been Mavericks owner Mark Cuban winning a championship — of an OKC-San Antonio West finals.

Who knows if OKC gets past San Antonio?

Also who knows if the Heat reach the final round again?

What I do know for sure is I would like the Thunder very much in that series for the simple fact that KD is not afraid. It was not KD’s best statistical game. L.A. did a good job of defending him and he was over-passing. What he did was play defense, good defense on Kobe at the end and, when the moment called for it, he drove in unafraid and unburdened.

“I have had so many bad times in the fourth,” Durant said, “where I missed shots, turned the ball over and through those times I learned. … and I know if It comes around again I am going to have the confidence to take it.”

This is why I am convinced the Dream Team is in OKC, not Miami.

Hawaii to become first U.S. state to ban plastic bags at checkout in every county

(NYDN) Hawaii is slated to become the first state in the nation to ban plastic bags at checkouts in every county.

“This is groundbreaking,” said Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle, according to msnbc.com.

Carlisle signed off on the ban last week, joining Honolulu County with the state’s three other counties, which had already passed the ban.

“By signing this environmentally friendly bill, Honolulu joined our neighbor island countries. Hawaii has become the only state in the United States where every county has plastic bag legislation.” Carlisle said.

The change goes into effect on July 15, 2015, giving retailers “plenty of time to get ready,” he told msnbc.com.

“Retailers will be able to use up their inventory of bags and make arrangements to educate the public on the importance of bringing their own bag,” Carlisle said.

Bans are already enforced in Kauai and Maui counties, and Hawaii County’s takes effect on Jan. 16, 2013.

The news comes on the heels of a report from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography documenting a shocking increase in plastic waste floating in the northeast Pacific Ocean.

Particularly in a region dubbed the “Great Pacific Garbage Patch,” marine life is changing as creatures ingest plastic at alarming rates.

The bans passed after a two-year campaign directed by the Sierra Club, an environmental group.

“Passing the bans did take an effort — change always does — but people seemed to understand the need for such an effort,” Robert Harris, director of the Sierra Club’s Hawaii chapter, told msnbc.com.

“Being a marine state, perhaps, we are exposed more directly to the impacts of plastic pollution and the damage it does to our environment,” he said.

“People in Hawaii are more likely to be in the water or in the outdoors and see the modern-day tumbleweed — plastic bags — in the environment.”

Which is why, at the young age of 18, Bieber is able to keep a straight face when he says he’s never gotten “out of control.”

“For me, it’s just like, I like to be in control of myself,” he tells the June issue of GQ magazine. “I mean, I’ve had a beer, like, before… But I never get out of control.”

The “Boyfriend” singer, who turned 18 on March 1, also admits that he has to remain guarded most of the time in an industry running rampant with people looking to bring him down.

“I mean, I keep my guard up a lot, because you know, you can’t trust anyone in this business,” he explains. “That’s what’s sad. You can’t trust anybody. I learned the hard way.”

Bieber is likely referencing the paternity suit that was filed against him last fall by wayward fan Mariah Yeater.

At the time, Yeater claimed that the baby-faced singer was the father of her child, a claim that Bieber’s camp quickly shut down.

“I know I’m going to be a target, but I’m never going to be a victim,” he said on the “Today” show of the incident in November.

(NYDN) The “lost and alone” estranged wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. hanged herself  Wednesday in a barn behind her Westchester home — the latest tragedy to claim a member of the famed Camelot clan.

Mary Richardson Kennedy, 52, was the mother of four children, the oldest 17 and the youngest 11. She was discovered by a family housekeeper, sources told the Daily News..

The Kennedys, who married in 1994, split almost exactly two years ago in what friends say was a devastating blow to Mary.

The May 2010 divorce filing, coupled with the media frenzy following her arrest for drunken driving three days later, started Mary Kennedy on a tragic downward spiral that ended with her suicide on her Bedford property, friends said.

She had struggled with alcohol for years and went into rehab in February, a family friend told the Daily News.

“She always seems lost these days, whenever she came into the village,” said a neighbor. “Lost and alone and sort of out of it.”

Her husband, a prominent environmentalist and high-profile member of the Kennedy dynasty, has been living primarily in California, palling around with movie stars and dating TV actress Cheryl Hines.

Mary Kennedy had not found a new romance.

News of her suicide stunned her family and friends.

“She’s my best friend,” said her sister-in-law, Kerry Kennedy, who introduced Mary Kennedy to her brother.

“Our whole family is devastated by the loss and we appreciate everyone’s prayers.”

Bedford police responded to the house at 1:36 p.m. to investigate a “possible unattended death,” according to a press release. It was not immediately clear when she died.

The children were away from home — the two oldest at boarding school and the two youngest with their father, family sources said.

(NYDN) Autopsy results confirm that Trayvon Martin sustained injuries to his knuckles before he was gunned down in a Florida gated community.

The medical examiner found two injuries on Martin’s body: the fatal gunshot wound on his chest and broken skin on his knuckles, according to WFTV.

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said the hand wounds could bolster the case of George Zimmerman, who claims he killed the unarmed 17-year-old in self-defense.

“It goes along with Zimmerman’s story that he acted in self-defense because he was getting beaten up by Trayvon Martin,” Sheaffer said.

“It could be consistent with Trayvon either trying to get away or defend himself,” Sheaffer said.

The details of Trayvon’s hand wounds came amid reports that Zimmerman suffered several injuries to his face and neck during the struggle.

Zimmerman’s family physician said he had a pair of lacerations to the back of his head, two black eyes, a minor back injury and a “closed fracture” of his nose, according to the report obtained by ABC News

Zimmerman, 28, killed Trayvon in a Sanford condo complex Feb. 26 after calling 911 to report a suspicious person.

Zimmerman claimed self-defense, saying Trayvon jumped him. Zimmerman was charged in April with second degree murder.

He remains out on $150,000 bail.

While sales for the plush, shape-shifting mattresses continue to rise, customers are reporting one major drawback — bad sex, according to a recent Barron’s report.

Torn between a good night’s sleep and good roll between the sheets, customers say the main problem boils down to traction.

“There’s a lack of resistance for the knees and feet,” New York sex therapist Sari Eckler told Barron’s. “And whoever is on the bottom is sinking into the bed.”

Or as one commenter put it: “It’s like trying to do it in quicksand.”

Memory foam mattresses are made from a dense, shock-absorbing material first developed for NASA in 1996 – great for spacecrafts, but perhaps not so great for the bedroom.

Discussion threads on mattress websites and apartment blogs are devoted to weighing the pros and cons of having sex on a memory foam mattress: Is it worth the comfort?

Some say it is — and then some.

“If you want a good night’s sleep, get a bed,” wrote one commenter on Yelp. “Just be aware that you’ll need to find an alternate place to have sex.”

On the flip side, an entry on the website sleeplikethedead.com explains how people can use the “sinkage” to their advantage:

“The bed moves little during sex. This allows sex to take place with no one in the next room being aware of it. This could be especially beneficial for parents who seek to keep their intimate moments secret from their kids.”

Sex aside, Americans are still buying memory foam — the market share has grown from 14% to 20% in the past 8 years, according to Barron’s.

Industry king Tempur-Pedic has a 90-day return policy, but the company’s CEO says sex-related concerns aren’t the reason behind most returns.

“In all honesty, I have never seen a return for that reason,” Mark Sarvary told Barron’s. “It’s conceivable that people aren’t buying our beds because of that, but if you speak to the legions of people who own these beds, this isn’t an issue for them.”
