Jake Gyllenhaal Confirmed for ‘Stand Up to Cancer’

(ETonline) Jake Gyllenhaal is using his famous face and personality to raise money for the platform of cancer. The do-gooder has joined the celebrity contingency that is assembling for “Stand Up to Cancer.”
An actor and humanitarian, Jake will participate alongside a plethora of other Hollywood heavyweights. He’ll deliver an important message in a “Stand Up to Cancer” PSA, set to debut during tonight’s MLB All-Star Game. Network news anchorsKatie Couric, Diane Sawyer, and Brian Williams will put their competitive spirit for ratings aside to join together with one common goal in mind.
The September 10 event will be broadcast live from Los Angeles on all major networks–ABC, NBC, and CBS. FOX just jumped on board as well. Some cable channels have elected to carry the monumental fundraiser too.
More than $100 million was raised by the event in 2008. This year’s event aims to attract even more donors to contribute to cancer research.
