Sarah Palin Testifies Against Alleged Email Hacker

(ETonline) Sarah Palin testified Friday in Tennessee against a former college student accused of hacking into her email account.

Sarah testified that she first heard that she’d been hacked while she was on the campaign trail running as Vice President alongside John McCain in the 2008 presidential campaign, according to the Associated Press.

David Kernell, the young man who stands accused, is the son of a Democratic lawmaker in Tennessee, and could spend up to 50 years in prison if convicted, according to the AP.

Sarah’s daughter Bristol testified Thursday that she was harassed by countless phone calls and text messages after her cell number was posted online due to the hack, according to the news service. David is not accused of making the calls.

Once her personal information was made public and the harassment began, according to the AP, Bristol described one instance that left her terrified. She was just 17 at the time and pregnant with her son, Tripp, when a group of boys called and said they were at the front door. The incident was only heightened by the fact that the Palin home is isolated.

“We live in the middle of nowhere in Alaska,” she told the court. “In the middle of the woods.”

As the AP reports, David’s attorney says the hack was a prank and his client meant no harm. When court ended for the day on Thursday, the young man on trial was asked by WMC-TV of Memphis what he thought of Bristol, to which he replied, “She’s not my type.”
